The winds have died down but Indian Summer is still with us. The ocean was a pond, which allowed us to speed along the surface right into the blinding sunlight. Along the way to Marineland we discussed visors, window tinting and driving with my eyes closed. We arrived at Marineland by 8:00 and jumped in to search for sand creatures, the photo theme for this month's LAUPS contest. I found a one inch red octopus right away, but couldn't get Merry's attention. She was busy with a mantis shrimp out in the open. She found it playing possum, curled up in a ball on it's side. At first she thought it was a molt, which would have been really nice. It proved otherwise.
Visibility was poor at eight feet with 54° and no water movement.

For our second dive we returned to Merry's Reef. A squadron of squid boats were stationed offshore. We were treated to the concussion of seal bombs as we descended. Visibility was again poor, with ten to twelve feet of green water at 62°.
