I just got off the phone with Navi's, they were at Vegas this year and aren't dead in the water. They said they'll be in production by Spring 2011. We'll see?

These units are of course acoustic, and are under all the environmental challenges of marine acoustic transmission/reception. My experience with the verbal transducer Comms(OTS) between divers and/or the boat is it's mostly affected by temps/thermoclines. Line of sight didn't seem to be an issue. Dropping the transducer from the boat to the divers working depth is ideal.

I'm thinking the digital transmissions from the Navi units may work even "cleaner" without the conversion to any verbal communication.

It could be a handy tool to mark spots to return to, you know like abandoned traps and rare abalone habitats ;~)
