The wardens get my greatest respect.

One thing that wasn't mentioned is that almost every encounter involves a armed person. Stop a hunter, he's got a gun. Stop fisher, he's got at least a knife.

And he didn't mention that the last poachers in the last bullet
(Jerry Jones and Terry Callahan) took their black abs from
Pt. Lobos State Reserve. Three strikes: Endangered species,
Out of legal area (south of the golden gate), from a no-take
zone (Pt. Lobos State Reserve). And probably a fourth: ab take
on SCUBA. Judge: Sock it to 'em.

What I really wish was that I had a time-sensitive way to drop a
dime on these guys. With some regularity, I chase fishers out
of the Monterey reserves. "Hi, do know you're fishing in a
no-take zone.?" Ans "DUH". And then they pack up and leave.
If the knew what they were doing, the answer would be "whadda
you mean?" Some of them know my boat and start pulling the
lines up before I get there.

The best one was the guy pleading ignorance. He was inside
OLD Pt. Lobos, not the new one (which is bigger) and had the
DFG map on his hand. And the adjacent boundry of the new reserve
has a really good visual point. Don't try to fool me, OK.
