Prevention is the key. I mix a 50-50 solution of vinegar (I use white) and 70% alcohol (unless you have 90 or 100). Some people use apple cider vinegar, but the key is acidity so acetic acid 5% seems to be about right. Between the drying effects of the alcohol and the acidity of teh vinegar I've had no problems. Plus its cheap to make and you use it after every emersion. I use an old SwimEar drop bottle to store the solution in; just keep refilling it.
