Today while setting up for the LA County UICC Advanced Diver Program at Castaic Lake we conducted a search pattern to locate one of the training stations to be used in a few weeks. After establishing it, two team members continuted a search for another station and came across 30 soft 'bricks' covered with plastic and electrical tape.

Three of the packages were brought to shore. We were unsure of their contents - maybe dope? Upon brief examination, they appeared to contain a claylike substance. Suspecting C-4 explosives, they were left in the water near shore while the LA County ("Park") Police were summoned. The officer who arrived made a brief examination and contacted his superiors and a County Lifeguard.

After several calls, it was ascretained that the bricks were left over from an FBI training exercise. The FBI was apparently unable to locate some of thier props in the murky depth of the Castaic lagoon after they finished.

Made for a fun day with a little excitement.

Next time the FBI loses something, they can call the LA County UICC / ADP teams for assistance. ;-)
