You're being conservative. You left out the cost of maintenance on the dry suit. I have a nine year old CF200. It works just fine but I'm a lazy slob and drop about $160 a year on DUI to keep it in top condition (replacing seals, leak testing and fixing leaks). Figure on replacing the berillium zipper every five years, too. That's about $250 if memory serves. That's $1690 in maintenance over nine years-not including shipping to DUI. :-)

You're right, a dry suit isn't a cost arbitrage-the cost savings stuff is hype. Wetsuits are fine unless you're going cold, deep or long (e.g. extended cave).
