Excellent explanation, long overdue on the Board. A question: in the "dark ages" of diving, late '50's and '60's, we used the Navy table and ascended no faster than our slowest exhalation bubbles and made no safety stops. Based on your explanation I guess we were all playing Russian roulette with the bends. However...is there any factual proof that there were more cases of bends back then than there are now? Of course there were far fewer divers then but the training and experience levels were much higher than today. Any correlations? Thanks.
