To get this board back on a more positive tone, I'm borrowing an idea from a posting on another BBS.
Share your reasons for diving. You can post your answer in the subject line or add a longer message if you care to elaborate.

To get the ball rolling, here are some of the reasons I dive (in no particular order):

· To enjoy the feeling of weightlessness

· To see fascinating creatures in their natural environment

· To wash the cobwebs out of my brain

· To forget stressful days at the office

· To escape the heat

· Because pagers and phones don't work underwater

· Because the hiss and woosh of a regulator sounds like music to me

· Because you really can't tell what the vis is like until you're down there

· Because the longer you spend underwater, the more cool stuff you see

· Because the longer you spend underwater, the more at home you feel

· So I'll be ready to dive with my kids when they're old enough

· Because I find kelp forests to be more spiritual places than churches

· To find solitude

· To find companionship

· To get exercise

· Because my son thinks divers are cool

· To have an excuse to buy expensive toys

· Because California has some of the best diving in the world
