IMHO This was handled well and provided an opportuntiy to practice with the Air2 and for the owner to evaluate its merits Vs Disavantages. Personally, I think the maitenance of bouancy during the ascent with an Air2 even in daytime is another level of complexity in a stressful situation. At night, well you just need more hands.

Now IMHO SHARING AIR should occur in only 2 situations:
1. a scheduled and discussed before the dive practice skills drill.
2. Emergency OOA or very Low on Air. The result of a mechanical malfunction or mental one.

"Routinly sharing air to extend the dive" is IMHO not a good safe practice. If the air is low, surface and end the dive, do not eat up your safty margine to get a few more minutes dive time. Dive another day or another tank for that. Just my $0.02 worth.
