That is a good explanation, but in reality, isn't it a bit more complicated than that?

In bad weather, some boats don't go because there aren't enough people signed up. In "good" weather our boats are full. In the winter there frequently aren't enough divers to make more than a handful of the boats run.

If you only look at this issue from one point of view it makes all of our diving oriented toward the lowest common denominator.

Could you spread some wisdom on how to safely survive a boat trip when it isn't smooth as glass. Otherwise, some day, we will all be limited to the 20 weekends a year that Brad mentioned, when you could canoe to Catalina, and maybe even Clemente. I doubt many of our commercial boats can survive when limited to "pristine" crossing days only.
