What is Wrong with the Casino Point Dive Park?

What is going on at the Casino Point Dive Park?

We made a dive tip over to Avalon last weekend. It was our first time back in about a year.

We're used to the park being crowded during the summer, but things were just insane.

It wasn't the divers. It was the snorkelers.
The area around the steps were constantly blocked by snorkelers, making scuba entrances and exits very difficult.

Some of the snorkelers swam with four foot inflatable tubes just a few feet from the steps. They didn't seem to have any awareness that divers were trying to maneuver around them.

Some snorkelers seemed to think the steps were their place to sit and relax like it was a poolside. Then they acted peevish when asked to move so we could get by.

It was just an awful day for a diver.

We always thought Lover's Cove was for snorkelers, and Casino Point was for divers. Why the change?

And what's up with the baggage service? They used to be great, but they really messed up this weekend. About fifteen divers waited over an hour for a pick-up, and the baggage service wouldn't even answer their phone. Several different people were calling and it would ring and ring, then go to a full message box. we couldn't even leave a message. When someone finally got through to them the baggage service guy said there was probably something wrong with OUR phones! Insulting.
Not going to use them again... ever.

We're simply not going to go back to Avalon.
Someone is making money renting grear to the snorkelers, but ultimately they'll loose out when recreational divers stop going there.
Adios Casino Point.
