There seems to be two adamant schools of thought concerning inflation and buoyancy control when diving a dry suit. One maintains that only the suit should be inflated for proper trim at depth. The other requires both the suit and the wing or BC to be inflated for trim and control. The suit only school argues that controling two inflation/deflations, especially on ascent, is double task loading and can lead to dangerous uncontrolled ascents if mismanaged. With either a camera or spear gun and eyes on an ascent rate gauge, it becomes quadruple task loading.
The dual inflation school is concerned with worst case scenario: what if both the suit and the wing/BC "fail"? In that highly unlikely event, drop the weights and fin back to the surface with the residual air left in either the suit or the wing/BC. Any thoughts on this rather devisive issue?
