The squid boats were fishing the Redondo Canyon off of Veteran's Park last night. Frustrated by the encroachment of the local seals the fishermen resorted to the use of explosives to ward off the unwanted intruders. Unfortunately they also effected divers in the same vicinity. At least three cuncusive explosions rocked divers as they enjoyed the fairly good conditions(Visability 30+ and water temp 58). As far as we know no divers were injured, but a few were shaken by the experience.

The Harbor Patrol was notified and has indicated they will look into the matter. If you have any information regarding this incident you can contact the Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol @ (310) 318-0632.
