When the insurance offered through PADI went through the roof last year, I decided to look around. I ended up with Gale Smith + Company for about half of V&B (PADI's captive carrier). The policy is just like all the others and claims to cover everyone and his uncle, just like the NAUI policy and the PADI one. It also lists certifying agencies as being automatic Additional Insureds.

But PADI REQUIRES that they be specifically listed by name and address in the document if you are a PADI DM or Instructor! You think that PADI knew that the dive insurance companies try to flake out? I suspect that their captive, V&B, would always cover PADI beause of the HUGE amount of business they do and they would never jeopardize that relationship. But an outside policy seems to frighten them unless they are specifically listed.

What a mess!
