I gave my gear to my dear friend Norm.

He never fishes for resident species, only pelagics.

I know his ethics and i trust him implicitly.

I am not against all forms of sportfishing, only those species and methods that are detrimental to the recovery of OUR nearshore, resident species.

i talked to Norm today, he was on his way home from San Diego. He took 10 bluefin (half limit) on a wide bite. He left them biting on a flat, calm day on the sea... He lives in the desert, and plans to share those fish with folks that rarely enjoy such a bounty!

There have been many times over the years when he drove 90 miles to Sd and drove another 30-40nm in his 19ft alum skiff, only to take 2 fish, put up the gear and head for home, leaving a wide open bite.

When it comes to OUR fishery, we must make the distinction between the two distinct fisheries: resident and pelagics. OUR resident species should be our immediate concern.
