You can drop them into boiling water, which is a quick death. You can also put them in the freezer, but they may still be alive the next day. My favorite method is to put my dive gloves on, grab the body and tail and give it a quick twist. Use an antenna to remove the poop chute, but don't do this while they're still alive. They tend to fight this.
