"Dive Technician Training
From Darren Lovecchio:

This is an announcement from DiveMed regarding the Diver Medical Technician course for National certification through NBDHMT. First of all, sorry for the delay in getting this going, secondly, to those who are on this list of interest by accident, we just switched some of our data bases and may have one or two that do not belong. Please delete and except our apology.

The dates for the academic sessions for the full 40 hour week is November 1st through the 8th.
Starting times TBA. The chamber operations course schedule may be at
Catalina Island at this point and would occur from the 9th-11th based on the interest and availability received from this e-mail. Another option for those of you in the local area of CA, we will be offering the course as a monthly weekend module, starting the last weekend of October and running over several weekends for a modular format. Every weekend would cover different topics until all necessary information was covered. Those interested in this format also have the option of paying as you go.

Prerequisites:

This course is geared towards those who have certification as first
responders, EMT's, Paramedics, and other rescue/medical professionals, but those who are Divemasters or Instructors may also benefit greatly from this program. You must be 18 years old and have at least a basic first aid/ O2 and rescue diving certification. Those who have EMT or higher medical training will be able to apply for national certification as a DMT.

Overview:
This course covers in detail the topics listed on the model curriculum with emphasis on assessment and treatment of diving illness and injury.

Location: Academic sessions will be held at DiveMed offices unless
attendance exceeds available space.

Times/Dates for full time course:

November: 1st 5pm registration/orientation/introductions
2nd-7th 8am-5pm 8th 9am-12pm final examination/paperwork/chamber ops logistics

November 9th-11th Chamber operations Costs:

$500.00 for academic sessions ($150.00 non-refundable deposit) made payable to DiveMed. Check or Money order only.

$300.00 for chamber operations. Payment made to (TBA)

Final note.
A grace period of one year is allowable between the academic sessions and the chamber operations course for those seeking national certification. For those who want to attend the academic sessions only, and are not medical professionals, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skills in diving accident management that is a cut above any conventional rescue training available through recreational diving agencies.
