Your post is very complete, except I would add to your following statement, "First off for recreational Nitrox (O2 less than or equal to 40%) there’s no need to make the reg ready for oxygen service," that this statement is only true if you choose to disregard CGA guidelines. Nitrox opponents and advocates alike seem to disregard this compressed gas industry guideline (note it is not just a scuba industry guideline). I would also point out that there is NO evidence to support your statement but there is plenty to the contrary.
